I bought it just to see what it said (it was cheap). I did not find it to be very helpful.

Tnx don, saw the reviews on amazon, mostly endorsed by newbies and wannabes. Loofiers gave it 1 star

I have it and being that I am new to building I have to say it is just what I needed. I have many good books on building guitars. However, what this one does is give you some "primer" information about how to do some of the things that the other books assume you know. There is also a section on making jigs and tools that I have enjoyed. Even a section on how to make labels by using a free program that he names. He goes though how to make a label for the guitar showing you examples of the free program.

In the book he mentions if you have questions to email him and he will respond. I emailed him two different times about things and he responded both times the next day with excellent additional information. My first question was about making a kerfing jig and the second time had to do with a Dremel attachment. So I have appreciated both the book and his interaction through email. The book has been just great for me being a newbie.

Hope this help you,
Chuck

I guess my negative reaction to this book was based on my having already read most of the standard building books and the GAL green and red books. I didn't see anything in this book that had not already been done in those others, and (in my opinion) better. But, that's just my opinion.

I/d like to borrow it through an ILL and if it/s worthy I will buy. Even though I/ve been building for a while I am always open to do things that make my work easier, faster, cleaner, neater , or cheaper !

I think the answer has already been stated above. There are too many instances in the book where you read what is suggested, and just scratch your head and say "wha??"
